Epson Stylus DX4050 Review


Epson Stylus printers have become almost synonymous with budget printers that pack a punch. The Epson Stylus DX4050 carries this tradition well, despite being at the top end of the budgetary requirements. It is the more advanced sibling to the DX3050 range and to the DX4000 and provides an improved printing speed, increased functions, and greater usability. Printing as many as 23 pages per minute in single colour text, and 12 pages per minute colour it is fast enough for any home use and many home office applications too. It is compatible with standard, letterhead, and glossy photographic quality paper and still retains print quality using each of these media types.

Epson Stylus DX4050 - The Multi Purpose Printer, Scanner, And Copier


The DX4050 is a multi function printer because it also doubles up as a scanner and a photocopier. The photocopier function can be used even when the computer isn't turned on and while it is slower than a genuine sole purpose colour photocopier it does a better than adequate job nonetheless. Scanning is also quick and thanks to the inclusion of the Epson Creativity software you can alter and enhance images until your heart's content. All in all the hardware and the software really does its job well.

Replacing Epson Inkjet Cartridges


Epson have adopted the use of four separate colour cartridges into all of their new inkjet cartridges. This does mean that when you run out of one colour you will be unable to print. However, and more importantly, it also means that you will have to pay a lot less to keep the printer stocked up with ink. This is because you only need to replace the ink for a colour when you run out of that colour. When compared to replacing an entire cartridge consisting of four colours it is cost beneficial. It's highly unlikely that you've run out of all four colours at once.

The Epson DX4050 comes with ink cartridges ready installed. These are typically the latest DuraBrite Epson Stylus printer cartridges. These give an excellent quality finish and they dry much quicker. Because the ink dries so much quicker in these Epson inkjet cartridges you are assured of a better quality finish and cleanliness to your pictures. The ink will not run and is highly unlikely to smudge even if you handle it direct from the printer. Epson Stylus printer cartridges aren't your only option though.
